Walking In the Confidence of the Lord

What does it mean to walk in the confidence of The Lord? This is a phrase that has been coming to mind repeatedly throughout the last few weeks. I believe that this phrase can be perceived differently depending on the person.

To me this phrase can mean many things, but I want to focus on two specific ways I perceive it. One of those things is being confident in His plan. For example, something unexpectedly happens in your life, whether that be losing someone, receiving unexpected news, etc. the list goes on. However, you trust that God has a plan, and you can keep walking with God knowing something beautiful will come out of the situation. When something happens unexpectedly, you know that God is your refuge; that you can find safety as well as peace in Him. Isaiah 41:10 says, “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Through whatever trial that occurs in your life, you can walk in the confidence of the Lord knowing that He is with us. He will never leave us or forsake us. I encourage you to pray this verse over you and the trials you walk through. You can have confidence that He is with you because He says it in His word.

To walk in the confidence of the Lord also means to be confident in the fact that He made you in His image. Psalm 139:13-16 says,

“For you created my inmost being;
    you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
    your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.
15 My frame was not hidden from you
    when I was made in the secret place,
    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book
    before one of them came to be”

Having self-confidence is hard, especially in the world we live in today. With social media being such a prominent thing in our daily lives, it is so hard not to compare ourselves to others. I am a firm believer in the saying comparison is the thief of joy. However, I have wonderful news for you. God created each and every one of us in His image. We all serve a purpose in this world. You are fearfully and wonderfully made. Not to mention the king of all kings knows you by name and knew that the world needed one of you. There is no one in this world who is exactly like you. It is truly such a beautiful thing.

Life is hard and having confidence is hard. Walking in the confidence of the Lord isn’t something that will occur over night. When you trust in His plan, you are walking into a lot of unknown. You don’t know what tomorrow brings, but you know the author of your story. That whatever you may be going through right now, you can have confidence in knowing He has a beautiful plan for your life.

If you made it this far and are willing to share, I want to ask what does the phrase “walking in the confidence of the Lord” mean to you? How do you perceive it? If you’d like, feel free to leave a comment on this post or email me!
